Seller information

Common questions about selling.

What commission do you charge sellers?

Our seller's commission is 22% + VAT of the hammer price, plus a £5 lotting fee payable only if your item sells. If it doesn't sell, you won't pay the lotting fee. No hidden charges.

Is there a minimum value for items you'll accept?

We typically ask for a minimum estimate of £30 per lot. However, we will consider collections of smaller items which can be bundled together. Please contact us if you're unsure — we'd rather have a look than turn something valuable away.

How long until my items are sold?

We run fortnightly auctions, so the wait is rarely more than two or three weeks from consignment to sale. We'll confirm which sale your items are entered into when you consign.

What if my items don't sell?

Unsold lots can be re-entered into a subsequent sale, usually at a reduced reserve, or returned to you. We'll discuss the options with you before making any changes.

Do you offer probate valuations?

Yes. We provide professional written probate valuations for executors, solicitors, and families administering estates. Our probate valuations are suitable for inheritance tax and estate administration purposes and are charged at £100 + VAT. We can visit the property, assess and catalogue the contents, and advise on the best route for selling items through auction where appropriate.

Do you offer house clearance services?

Yes. We offer a comprehensive house clearance service for properties of all sizes. We can visit the property, assess the contents, and provide a free house clearance appraisal. Depending on the items involved, we can arrange collection, recommend the most appropriate disposal or sale options, and identify pieces that may be suitable for auction.

Can I set a reserve price?

Yes. Reserves can be set at or below the low estimate. We'll agree a reserve with you at consignment. Lots that do not reach their reserve are not sold, and no commission is charged on unsold lots.
